I love love love love love my father! He's not fussy about gifts, always content with a card. For those of you looking for gifts for Dad, consider the following:

A Kindle

An Ipod

Fishing Equipment

Plane Tickets

Gift certificate to his favorite steakhouse

Happy Father's Day Daddy!

A Toast to Belle

Her book is on sale in bookstores tomorrow. The book tour kicks off at Hue-Man Bookstore and Cafe in New York City tomorrow. For those of us who advance-ordered online, great-going. This one is going to be packed!

For the Human and Civil Rights Champions Transcending

As part of my post undergraduate work in African-American Studies, I took a class this Spring on civil rights. I am conscious of the fact that civil rights championed by Clara Luper, Gil Scott Heron and Geronimo Pratt are privileges that women, children, Latinos, Asians, GBLT, Muslims, Jews, and poor people enjoy. Thank you.

Romper Outrageous

My favorite summer pieces are rompers. They're easy to pack, come in fun colors and an array of great fabrics and they'll be the perfect comfort for the scorcher days ahead.

One of my absolute favorites is from Abercrombie & Fitch featured below.

All I Want For Juneteenth...

Well, I know gift-giving isn't synonymous with this day of rememberance but to celebrate and remember our success, I'm thinking of doing it up big in Vegas! I love the heat and to be in the desert, taking in the landscape outside of the city is an exciting prospect. So, I'm doing a few things:

1.  Taking lunch in to my volunteer gig at the National Black Arts Festival's Atlanta headquarters
2.  Having Girl's Night In featuring sepia romantic classics like Burlesque In Harlem
3.  Taking in some extra work assignments -- like fashion and beauty marketing -- for a media outlet

Ledisi and Robert Glasper are just a couple of the talented acts, I'll enjoy at Uptown Magazine's getaway for young, urban professionals. Besides music, there's golfing and swimming. See you there!
