Pretty Girl Holiday Party Prep: Holiday Etiquette Reminders

"Holidays are all about giving thanks, relaxing, spending time with family and friends, sharing good food, entertaining, visiting, and maybe even some gifts. Even if it may look and feel a little different this year, we love it and have all the etiquette you need to set the table, turn down the guest room or talk politics without ruining the meal, " Emily Post

Let's talk about how to do your holiday parties.

We know. We know

You're pretty much the perfect angel.

That bestie. That Co-Worker. That Work Wife. That Wifey. That Daughter. That Girl.

Even still, it's been a while since we've all been at the Autumn and Winter holiday get-togethers as we knew them pre-pandemic. And we're all pretty much making a full return to year-end holidays in 2022.

And while we all love a little reality tv drama, let's try our angelic best to leave the drama for those Netflix couch binge seshes with bae (with or without that take-home plate.)

In other words, do the right thing at all of the events: Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and NYE--with best social practices that include very specifically best etiquette practices.

Because honestly, your nemesis or your ex-boyfriend just may RSVP to the party and has quite possibly gone through a lot these last couple of years.

Let's show up without showing out. Most of all, let's give honor and respect to the communities that raised us with a kind mindset in the new normal.

Cynical Cynthias and Sullen Sallys: Be yourselves but try to make sure to bring especially great energy.

Good vibes will flow with great conversation informed with a great outlook. Chat up an exciting, new promotion; an investment painting you bought, or an upcoming European trip.

Bring along a few bottles of McBride Sisters wines to keep the vibes mellow. McBride Sisters Collection Reserve Chardonnay "The Great Escape" Santa Lucia Highlands, California 2020 is an award winner. McBride Sisters also offer gift cards. You can even surprise some party-goer with a Secret Santa gift. https://www.mcbridesisters.com/Wine-Shop/All-Wines

Speaking of gifts, note to Frugal Frannie, remember to have a hostess gift when you arrive at your soiree.

Economical ideas are likely to be ok. Just select something thoughtful, something that matches her tastes.

Your hostess will surely invite you to events in 2023 with a gift like the Williams Sonoma Charcuterie Kit priced at $50 if she likes a good cheeseboard.

Maybe she likes chocolates. Consider the S'mores Making Kit from Anthropologie, similarly priced.

If there are games or an activity, participate a little even if you are not a social butterfly. Hey, we've all been indoors, meeting up virtually over our door dashed dinners for a while now. It's totally fine to be a bit awkward in a social but you don't want to send the wrong message by gluing yourself to your new iPhone for the evening. A few quick and friendly, "what's ups" to a new or familiar face or two will do your spirit good.

Helpful Hannah.

Can you pick up a catering order before you arrive or help with the playlist so everyone can enjoy the Soul Train line after dinner? Your host and hostess will heart you for it.

Moderation Miriam doesn't overindulge at the party. Do you know why? She knows that attacking finger foods attracts the wrong attention. Besides, overindulging could leave less food for others. Ditto for the Chardonnay. Moderation is the name of the game. It's not a bad idea to make a satisfying pasta dinner before you arrive to help with any moderation goals.

Thankful Thembie Thanks Twice. As you Uber home, send a nice shout-out on the group chat. After all, gratitude is one of the re-occurring themes of the seasons. You can even go old school and send a beautifully handwritten thank you note.

Even if the holiday party is casual, your manners should always be elegant.

Remembering the hostess is an important detail. You want to get it right. Here are more gift ideas that almost all hostesses enjoy.

Days afterward when your hostess receives her note, she is sure to happily rest it upon her mantle as she preps for that cozy, self-care evening (with her wine and s'mores kit) after all of that holiday hostessing detail. https://21ninety.com/3-bomb-bath-ideas-to-help-you-relax
